MINTO, N.B. – Numbers continue to grow for the Minto Footsteps Challenge.
The fifth annual 5K run drew almost 40 participants on Saturday, June 3, after the annual kids’ run drew 130 children and their families the evening before. Both were record numbers, according to Katie Morell, who started the event with two friends.
“The races went amazing,” said Morell.
The 1K kids’ run took place in the parking lot of the Queens North Health Center (, with plenty of bubbles creating the theme for this year’s event.
“We had bubble stations set up in the parking lot, human bubble, giant bubble, wabble bubbles, a colour bubble station, and a free play bubble station,” said Morell, who had volunteers from all over the community on hand to help out.
“I had three children at the end come up and personally thank me for organizing this event, and many parents and community members raved about how much fun it was for all who were there,” she said.
The 5K on Saturday was an out-and-back run to the community’s industrial park.
