YARMOUTH, N.S. – Organized are thrilled with the inaugural Starlight Runway Run here, which drew a sellout crowd of 250 to the Yarmouth International Airport on Saturday, Sept. 9.
The event reached capacity with its registration two weeks ahead of race day, according to Candice Phibbs of Mile East Productions, which put on the race.
“Our flight took off at approximately 8:45 p.m., with passengers lit up with glow materials,” she said. “Everyone looked great!”
Keeping with the airport theme, “passengers” checked in at the airport ticket counter, and made use of a key check service offered at the Avis car rental booth.

Although the evening run advertised 5K and 1K options, one of the distances came up a little short.
“Unfortunately, we had some measurement issues (with the 5K) and the route came back at approximately 4.3K,” said Phibbs.
. “We are working on correcting this for next year. Despite the measurement issues, our attendees had a fantastic time!”
Feedback from the runners was positive, according to Phibbs, who said they couldn’t wait to put the event on again.
